Awesome Special Forces Gunships in Action: The Battle for Kandahar's Panjwayi Valley

The Panjwayi Valley, located just 35 kilometers southwest of Kandahar City, has been a crucial battleground in the fight against Taliban forces in southern Afghanistan. In September 2006, Task Force-31, comprised of soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (3rd SFG), known as the 'Desert Eagles,' launched Operation MEDUSA to drive the Taliban out of the strategically important valley.

The operation was part of a larger effort by NATO/ISAF forces to push the Taliban out of their traditional stronghold in Kandahar Province.
